500 Diazepam tablets found in woman's bra during hospital 'resus,' court hears

POLICE were called at 4.20am after staff located 500 Diazepam tablets in the bra of a woman in a 'resus' area of Antrim Area Hospital.

Officers returned later in the day - February 26 this year - to speak to Patricia Quigley (33), and she made a full admission to possessing Class C drugs.

Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, heard the defendant had a record.

A defence barrister said the defendant had a "crippling drug addiction",

The defendant's address was listed as Dacre Terrace which is in Derry/Londonderry.

The lawyer said Quigley "did not have enough money to buy drugs" in the north west and had gone to buy them elsewhere and they were "solely for personal use".

He added the defendant's drug problem was "pretty sad" and would "either kill her or leave her coming to adverse attention on a regular basis".

The defendant was given a two months prison term, suspended for a year, which District Judge Nigel Broderick hoped "might give you the incentive not to take drugs".
