Belfast man who stole trolley loads of vodka worth £1,600 receives nine months jail sentence for 'industrial level' shoplifting

A MAN who was involved in what a judge described as "industrial level" shoplifting has been jailed for nine months.

Thomas Kane (23), of Meadow Place, Belfast, admitted stealing £1,632 worth of vodka from Tesco at Newtownbreda on November 12, 2019.

Two people were involved and two trolleys were filled with eight boxes of vodka. The drink was not recovered.

Kane also attempted to steal £987 worth of alcohol from Tesco at Springhill, Bangor, on November 11, 2019.

A trolley had also been filled with alcohol at Springhill  but that drink was recovered.

The defendant appeared at Newtownards Magistrates Court via video link from Magilligan Prison.
