Belfast motorist caught doing 101mph

A MOTORIST with a Belfast address who was caught doing 101mph in a 70mph zone on the M2 motorway has been banned from driving for two weeks and fined £150.

Nagiaty Alin Fekete (29), of Hyndford Street, had the matter dealt with at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture).

A defence solicitor said the defendant, who he said is Romanian, is a "breadwinner" for three young children and a pregnant wife.

The defendant was defected at 8.30 on a Sunday morning as he drove home to make sure his wife's "health was addressed".

The lawyer asked the court not to ban the defendant from driving because of his family responsibilities.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said there must be a driving ban but he would temper it "because of his personal circumstances".

He added: "But it is a high speed and again cold comfort for anyone he hits at that speed".
