Charges withdrawn: Ballymena brothers had been accused of possessing metal hoe and plastic poles as weapons

TWO Ballymena brothers who had been charged with possessing offensive weapons - one a metal hoe and the other a plastic pole - have had all the charges they faced withdrawn.

They are Andrew Bain (23), of North Street and Luke Bain (20), of Montague Avenue.

The charges had related to June 17 this year.

As well as the hoe allegation, Andrew Bain had also been charged with causing criminal damage to a front window at Luke's address and assaulting a male.

As well as allegedly having a plastic pole, Luke Bain had faced a second charge - assaulting Andrew Bain occasioning him actual bodily harm.
