Cookstown motorist banned from driving for doing 101mph in 'wet conditions'

A COOKSTOWN motorist has been banned from the roads for two weeks and fined £350 after being caught speeding at 101mph in "wet" conditions.

Ryan Donaghy (19), of Sullenboy Park, was detected on a motorway - a 70mph zone - on October 30 last year, Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, was told.

A prosecutor said the road conditions were wet and traffic was light.

The court heard the defendant already had three penalty points on his licence for speeding.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said: "Drivers who drive at this speed should readily expect to be disqualified. It is far too dangerous".
