County Antrim man who attacked family member's house is given one year conditional discharge

A CRUMLIN man who caused criminal damage to the home of a member of his family has been given a one year conditional discharge.

After the incident, Philip Beattie told officers ,who saw him with a bloodied hand: "I admit I did it, look at my hand".

The 34-year-old of Canning Grove, appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture), and pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage to a front door on August 15 this year.

A prosecutor told an earlier court the householder explained to police the defendant, who was intoxicated, had punched the front living room window and repeatedly kicked the front door.

The defendant had left on foot prior to police arrival and when they found him at Main Street - where his right hand was covered in blood - Beattie said: "I admit I did it, look at my hand".

The defendant told the latest court hearing he wished to apologise.
