A BALLYMENA man who had stolen £864 worth of electrical goods during three shoplifting raids at the main Tesco store in the town "appears to have turned his life around," according to a defence barrister.

Terence Dunlop (32), of Devenagh Way, had taken goods on September 4,7 and 9, 2019, Ballymena Magistrates Court heard.

None of the goods were recovered.

The defence lawyer said the defendant is on a methadone programme.

The defendant was given a five months prison term, suspended for three years.
