Court hears County Antrim man is now off drugs and working in 'riding stables' from 6am each day

A MAN who was in possession of cocaine and cannabis in 2020 is now "abstinent from drugs" and working at "riding stables", starting at 6am each day, a defence barrister told Antrim Magistrates Court.

Benjamin Hill (30), of Drumsough Road, Randalstown, who had a previous record, appeared at the court, sitting in Ballymena.

The defence barrister said Hill had spent much of this year in custody in relation to a Crown Court case but now "things are really positive".

District Judge Nigel Broderick said he would leave something "hanging over" the defendant to act as an "extra incentive not to re-offend with drugs".

In relation to the drugs possession charges, Hill was given a four months prison sentence, suspended for two years.
