Court hears man is 'so remorseful' after being over the limit he 'hasn't had a drink since'

A DEFENCE solicitor said a man was "so remorseful" after being caught drink driving on February 5 this year that he "hasn't had a drink since".

Connor Mills (24), of Old Mill Park, Dundonald, was pulled in by police after the PSNI received a report at 12.22am from a member of the public that they had witnessed a male leaving The Four Winds bar in south Belfast and drive away in a van, "hitting the kerb on leaving".

The member of the public suspected it was a drink driver "due to his manner of driving".

The vehicle was pulled over by police at Manse Road and had an evidential breath sample of 54 - the limit is 35.

At Newtownards Magistrates Court (main picture) the defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £150.

District Judge Mark Hamill told the defendant: "It will be a bit of a shock when you get your next insurance".
