A COURT has heard a defence expert believes drugs seized near Larne had a value of under £6,000 compared to a prosecution estimate of up to £24,000.

Details emerged as defence solicitor Kevin MacAllister was speaking at Ballymena Magistrates Court regarding David Irvine (52), of Ballysnod Road, Larne, who is charged with cultivating cannabis at the address on February 23 this year.

The defendant is also charged with possessing cannabis.

The case has been adjourned to November 11.
