Court in Ballymena hears sex offender is accused of failing to register address

A SEX Offender is accused of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order at Barra Street in Antrim town by failing to register his address.

John Patrick Smyth (35), with an address listed on a charge sheet as Glenveigh Drive in Belfast, is charged in relation to January 26 this year.

The defendant is also accused of failing to notify police of his name, address and date of birth within a 'relevant period'.

He is also accused of entering into a relationship with a female without notifying his 'Designated Risk Manager'.

The case was mentioned at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture), and adjourned to March 15.

A prosecutor said the case may be sent to the Crown Court.
