Court in Ballymena hears woman spat at police officer

A DEFENCE lawyer told a court in Ballymena a pre-sentence report would be needed as a case had involved a woman "spitting at a police officer during the pandemic".

Danguole Uboniene, whose age was not given, of Oaktree Drive in Antrim town, admitted offences which happened on December 2 last year.

The defence barrister told Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, the defendant was pleading guilty to assault on police; criminal damage to a police cell van; attempted criminal damage to the cell van; driving whilst unfit at Dunsilly Roundabout near Antrim; failing to provide a specimen of breath; and insurance and driving licence offences.

The case was adjourned to April 5 for a pre-sentence report and an interim driving ban was imposed.
