Donaghadee man fined £300 for making threat to kill

POLICE spoke to a Donaghadee man who had earlier been standing outside the workplace of his then partner's ex-boyfriend and the defendant then made a threat to kill, Newtownards Magistrates Court heard.

John McAdam (37), of Church Lane, admitted making a threat to a police officer on December 12 last year that he would kill the man.

A prosecutor said police had located the defendant nearby and he was "extremely intoxicated and agitated".

The defendant said he would "kill" the man.

A defence lawyer claimed there had been "constant reference" to the defendant on social media and McAdam had "reacted badly" but had no intention of carrying out the threat.

District Judge Mark Hamill fined the defendant £300 and bound him over to keep the peace for two years in the sum of £1,000.
