Drink drive motorist attempted to run into her home when police approached in Ballymena

A MOTORIST who had taken drink at a Birthday Party attempted to run into her home when spotted by police.

Dorota Rohde (49), a cleaner, of Beech Drive in Ballymena, had a reading of 79 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

Ballymena Magistrates Court heard she pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol after a detection in the early hours of September 19 this year.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant had been at her son's birthday party and had "two glasses of whiskey" and had "nothing to eat".

He said she felt capable of driving and had been "leaving a family member home and had stopped to let that family member out whenever she came under police notice and then she turned and went to her own premises".

The defendant was banned from driving for 14 months and fined £200.
