Driving offence detected on motorway in County Antrim after 'pre-Christmas' drinks

POLICE saw a vehicle move onto the hard shoulder several times at the M22 motorway at 3.20am on December 11, 2021, and it emerged, the motorist was on his way home after being out for "pre-Christmas" drinks with friends.

Peter Joseph Robb (37), a tiler, of Mount Shalgus Lane, had an alcohol in breath reading of 43 - the legal limit is 35.

A defence lawyer told Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, the defendant believed he was OK to drive home.

The defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £200.
