Drunk customer struck face of employee at McDonald's in Ballymena

A DRUNK woman who struck the face of an employee at McDonald's in Ballymena has been put on Probation for a year for assault.

Jennifer McCosh (46), of Old Cullybackey Road, Cullybackey, was in the restaurant on February 27 last year and was "aggressive".

A prosecutor said the employee was struck on the face by the defendant with her hand but "no injuries were reported".

The prosecutor said police were called and the defendant "appeared to be heavily intoxicated and agitated".

Ballymena Magistrates Court head the defendant had a relevant record.

Defence solicitor John McAtamney said the incident happened when the defendant had been "struggling to cope" and was abusing alcohol.

He said a pre-sentence report was "one of the most positive" he had read recently and the defendant appears to have "turned a corner".

The lawyer said McCosh is assessed as a low likelihood of reoffending.
