Four year road ban for man with three drink drive related convictions

POLICE saw a Mercedes vehicle hit kerbs and after it indicated right but turned left officers stopped the driver and established it was his third drink driving related matter.

Doru Ungureanu (50), of Clarence Street, Ballymena, admitted driving with excess alcohol in his breath and driving whilst disqualified at Larne Road Link in the town on June 19 this year.

The defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 42 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

The defendant had the assistance of a Romanian interpreter at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

The defendant was ordered to do 120 hours of Community Service and was also banned from driving for four years.
