Hotel employee caught speeding said he was 'chatting' and 'not paying attention'

A HOTEL employee caught speeding at Loanends told police he had not been "paying attention".

Dean Lloyd (36), with a Ballymena address, was detected doing 60mph in a 40mph zone at Sevenmilestraight on August 9 this year.

Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, heard the defendant already had nine points on his licence.

Defence solicitor Stewart Ballentine said the defendant had been "chatting" and the speeding offence had been an "oversight".

The defendant was banned from driving for two weeks and fined £300.
