Insurance offence detected after man had driven car for 'tired' care assistant

A MAN who was uninsured said he was driving because the car owner, a care assistant, was "tired" after finishing a shift.

Details emerged at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, regarding Liam McLoon (26), of Lismoyle Road near Kilrea, who was detected in the Randalstown area on March 30 this year.

Guilty pleas were entered to insurance and driving licence offences and he was banned from driving for six months. He was also fined £250.

The car owner - Mollie Lynch (20), of Rockview Park in Rasharkin - was given six penalty points and fined £200 for permitting no insurance.
