Judge asks Larne man: 'Do you think the law doesn't apply to you?'

A JUDGE asked a Larne man caught driving for a sixth time without insurance: "Do you think the law doesn't apply to you?"

District Judge Nigel Broderick was speaking at Ballymena Magistrates Court to James Frank Dempsey (32), of Walnut Avenue.

The court heard on May 13 last year the defendant was detected driving without insurance and being on the road whilst banned.

A defence lawyer said the defendant regretted the matter.

The defendant was given a four months prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and banned from driving for six months.
