A JUDGE fined a Downpatrick man £250 for possessing cannabis in a grinder and said: "It was an expensive joint".

District Judge Amanda Brady was speaking to Steven McGhee (24), of The Paddock, Racecourse Road, at Downpatrick Magistrates Court.

The defendant, who had a previous drugs record, came to police attention in Downpatrick on January 21 this year.

Judge Brady warned the defendant: "Any more drugs offences you will be looking at a prison sentence".
