Man admits assaults and having a fire extinguisher as an offensive weapon during 'very serious incident in coffee shop' in Ballymena

A MAN originally from Romania has admitted three assaults and having a fire extinguisher as an offensive weapon during what a defence lawyer admitted was a "serious incident played out in a coffee shop" in Ballymena.

Ioan Loredan Lucaciu (29), of Toome Road, Ballymena, committed offences at Larne Road Link in the town on October 7, 2021.

Full details of the case have yet to be outlined to Ballymena Magistrates Court (main picture).

However, a defence barrister said it was a "very serious domestic case that is played out in a coffee shop in Ballymena with a weapon".

The lawyer said the defendant is a Romanian national who would require an interpreter for the purposes of the pre-sentence report and for court.

The case has been adjourned to February 10 for a pre-sentence report.
