Man admits using vehicle in dangerous condition in Ballymena

A MAN has admitted using a vehicle in a dangerous condition and other charges including absence of insurance for the car at Kernohans Lane in Ballymena.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court (main picture), Neil Francis Blaney (39), with an address given as Groves End Gardens in Coleraine, had the case adjourned to October 7 for a pre-sentence report.

Defence barrister Neil Moore said the defendnat had a "very significant record" including dangerous driving causing death.

That was a reference to 2001 when the defendant, then living in west Belfast, was jailed for knocking down John Patrick McDonald who had been walking home. Blaney failed to stop and later abandoned the car in that incident.
