A MAN with a Newtownards address is alleged to have choked his pregnant partner causing her to lose consciousness.
Craig Price (33),of Scrabo Manor, is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and 'domestic abuse' in relation to alleged incidents in Ballygowan in July this year.
He is also accused of causing damage to property belonging to his 'estranged' wife in Bangor in June this and is further charged with being disorderly at the Ulster Hospital.
A police officer said the defendant's partner alleged there had been a number of choking incidents including one where she lost consciousness and received bruising to her neck and a burst blood vessel in her eye.
She awoke with bruises on her arms and legs and clumps of her hair were missing.
At Newtownards Magistrates' Court, District Judge Mark Hamill said: "The mother of his child was choked so severely she lost consciousness and burst a blood vessel in her eye. That is the allegation".
The defendant was released on bail to an address at Portaferry with a night time curfew and an electronic tag.
He is barred from Bangor and Ballygowan and is to have no contact with the alleged injured parties.
The cases were adjourned to August 31.
