Man cautioned for drink driving in Ballymena told police: 'Aye, sweet'

WHEN cautioned by police for drink driving in Ballymena at 12.30am on August 7 this year, a Newtownabbey man replied: "Aye, sweet".

Christopher McClurg (24), of Carntall Rise, was also uninsured and there was a driving licence offence.

Police attention was attracted to the vehicle as they saw it going at speed onto Parkway.

The defendant had an alcohol in breath reading of 69 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

A defence lawyer said the defendant's head "wasn't in the right place" on the date in question.

At Ballymena Magistrates Court, the defendant was banned from driving for a year and fined £350.
