Man claimed he found drugs on street in Ballymena

A MAN who has admitted possessing 1.5 grammes of amphetamine claimed he found them on a street.

Marcin Pawel Fialek (31), a food processor, with an address listed as Dunclug Park in Ballymena, had the drugs detected on March 19 this year.

The defendant had the assistance of an interpreter when he appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court.

A prosecutor said the detection was made near the Lighthouse hostel in Ballymena.

When interviewed the defendant claimed he had found the drugs "on the street".

The defendant, who had a record, was fined £200.
