Man fined for being 'simple drunk' at Tesco filling station in Antrim town

A MAN who was found lying on the ground and was unable to stand at Tesco filling station in Antrim town has been fined £100 on a charge of 'simple drunk'.

Alan Hutchings (23), of Grove View, Killead, came to police attention on November 6, 2019, Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, heard.

District Judge Nigel Broderick noted the 'simple drunk' charge did not carry any potential jail term whereas being "simple drunk in control of a horse" carried the possibility of one month in jail.
