Man is accused of robbing woman of £15 and having broken bottle as offensive weapon in County Down village

A MAN is accused of robbing a woman of £15 and having a broken bottle as an offensive weapon at Main Street in Clough, County Down.

Brendan McCartney (37), of Bunbeg Park, in Belfast, is charged in relation to July 24 this year.

He is also charged with assaulting the woman; damaging a window of her car and making a threat to damage her home.

The case was mentioned at Downpatrick Magistrates Court on Monday where a police officer believed he could connect the defendant to the charges.

The court heard the alleged incident described as a "domestic-type matter".

The defendant is on police bail and the case has been adjourned to September 28.
