A MAN with an Omagh address is to contest a charge of possessing a knife as an 'offensive weapon' at the Ecos Park in Ballymena.

Kamil Kurpiewski (26), of Pinefield Drive, Killyclogher, is charged in relation to September 12 this year.

Defence barrister Neil Moore told Ballymena Magistrates Court the charge is to be contested.

He said the issue is "about reasonable excuse" "and "lawful authority to be in possession of a knife".

The case was adjourned to November 18 to fix a date for a contest.
