Men accused of Ballymena murder have cases adjourned to next month

A PRELIMINARY Enquiry - the legal step to send a case to the Crown Court - is set to be held on September 14 regarding two men accused of murdering Donald Fraser-Rennie in Ballymena last autumn.

Samuel Atcheson (34), of Crebilly Road in Ballymena and Stephen Hunter (31), of Lanntara in the town, are charged with murdering Mr Fraser-Rennie who was 33.

Mr Fraser-Rennie’s body was found at an address at Crebilly Road last September.

At the time, PSNI Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell had said in a press statement: "At this stage I believe that Donald was the victim of a vicious, sustained and violent beating which resulted in his death”.
