Motor trade man caught doing 98mph in 'nice smooth car to drive'

A MOTOR trade employee from the Stranocum area caught doing 98mph in a 60mph zone told a court: "I be in different cars every day and a Golf is a nice smooth car to drive and I just didnt realise I was going as hard as that".

Roger Gage (26), of Ballinlea Road, who told Ballymena Magistrates Court he worked with his father in a car sales business, was detected on July 16 this year.

District Judge Nigel Broderick said he failed to understand why people say they don't realise they are doing high speeds, adding: "The trees and lamp posts go quicker past you".

The defendant was banned from driving for two weeks and fined £200.
