Motorist caught doing 102mph on way to play football in County Antrim

A 58-year-old motorist caught speeding at 102mph on the M2 motorway on the afternoon of Sunday October 31, 2021, was on his way to play football in Glenavy and was "running excessively late," a defence barrister told Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena.

Gerard Mallon, a self-employed facilties operator, of Orchard Hill, Crumlin, knows the speed was "not acceptable," the defence lawyer said.

The defendant was banned from driving for a month and he was fined £200.
