A MOTORIST caught doing 60mph in a 30mph zone at the Old Galgorm Road in Ballymena, at 9.20am on February 26, 2020, has been banned driving for three months and fined £100.

Jackie Morgan (34), of Ballyclug Mews, Ballymena, thought he was in a 40mph zone, a defence lawyer told Ballymena Magistrates Court.

She said the defendant was "going downhill and, fortunately, there was no one else on the road at the time".

The lawyer said the defendant had recently been banned from driving for a year, on August 12.

A prosecutor said the defendant told police when cautioned at Old Galgorm Road: "I have done wrong, I am freezing, I will deal with the consequences".
