Motorist caught speeding in area of Randalstown without 'appropriate signage'

A MOTORIST has admitted doing 37mph in a 30mph zone at Portglenone Road, Randalstown, but a defence barrister said there had been an issue looked into regarding "appropriate signage".

Francis Brammeld (59), of Glenkeen, Randalstown, was detected on July 22 this year.

Defence barrister Chris Sherrard told Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, the stretch of road was "two thirds of a mile long with no signage relating to the 30mph zone".

The lawyer said the defendant is taxi driver.

The defendant was given three penalty points and fined £100.
