Motorist caught uninsured for fifth time is given a jail warning

A BURNSIDE motorist was caught driving a BMW without insurance at 4.15am on January 17 this year in Ballymena.

Antrim Magistrates' Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture), was told it was Jordan Hall's fifth insurance conviction in the last four years.

The 27-year-old, of Kelburn Park, was given a three months jail sentence, suspended for two years; banned from driving for a year and fined £400.

Deputy District Judge Austin Kennedy told him: "You're sailing very close to the wind in terms of imprisonment".

He warned the defendant that if caught again for no insurance in the next two years he could expect at least six months in jail.
