Package addressed to Kells man contained drugs

A PACKAGE containing 30 grammes of herbal cannabis and 56 Diazepam tablets addressed to a Kells man was intercepted, a court heard.

And when police went to the home of Stephen Davidson (23), of Templemoyle, they found 14.5 grammes of cannabis; 45 grammes of cannabis resin and ten bottles of 'THC'.

He pleaded guilty to possessing and attempting to possess drugs.

A defence solicitor told Ballymena Magistrates Court there was a "very positive" pre-sentence report and the defendant was "very keen" to get "drug counseling".

The defendant was put on Probation for a year, with District Judge Nigel Broderick telling Davidson he was "being given a chance to turn this around".
