Painter accused of fraud did not have 'proper control' of van in Holywood

A PAINTER facing 32 charges including 'engaging in aggressive commercial practice'; 'engaging in misleading commercial practice'; and fraud by false representation has, in a separate case, been banned from driving for a month and fined £75 on a charge of being unable to have 'proper control' of a Mercedes van at High Street in Holywood, County Down, on May 17 this year.

Stephen Stewart (48), with an address listed as Blackthorn Rise, Larne, had the case mentioned at Newtownards Magistrates Court.

He had been using a mobile phone.

A defence solicitor said on the day in question Stewart was "late for work" and whilst arranging for workers to do some painting and decorating he had "foolishly" taken a call.
