Police 'dropped man home' in Antrim but then smelt cannabis

POLICE smelt cannabis and then found a man had the Class B drug in a tobacco pouch as they "dropped him home" after being called to an address in Antrim town where he had been intoxicated.

Alexander James Johnstone (49), of Donore Crescent, Antrim, had the cannabis joint on October 17 last year.

A defence solicitor said the defendant was "not a habitual user" of cannabis.

At Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture), the defendant was fined £100.
