Police found cannabis and County Antrim man said it was 'about four weeks personal use'

POLICE found grinders and 34 grammes of cannabis and a Randalstown man said it was "about four weeks personal use".

Paul Quinn (42), of Mill View, admitted a charge of possessing a Class B drug.

A prosecutor told Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, the defendant said he had had paid £90 for the drugs.

When asked by District Judge Nigel Broderick if the defendant had a drug problem, a defence lawyer said: "I think it is fair to say he is going through a particularly difficult time and is a drug user".

The judge said he wanted a pre-sentence report to see if Probation could assist the defendant "to get off drugs because if he keeps going down this road he will end up going to prison".

The case was adjourned to November 30.
