Police were helping man but he then became verbally abusive to officers and Housing Executive staff in County Antrim

POLICE took a man to a Housing Executive office in Antrim town to assist him in getting emergency housing but he then began verbally abusing officers and staff members.


Edward Rosbotham (47), with an address listed as Seacash Walk in Antrim, admitted being disorderly at the High Street office (main picture) where he was swearing on June 21 this year.

The defendant appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, via video link from prison.

The court also heard the defendant had been disorderly at Antrim Area Hospital where he was verbally abusive whilst intoxicated in the Emergency Department on March 1 this year.

A defence solicitor said the defendant struggled with alcohol and insobriety is "affable".

The lawyer said the defendant was "ashamed" and apologetic.

Rosbotham, who had spent some time on remand, was jailed for two months.
