Police were present with woman when County Antrim man sent Snapchat message saying: 'I had 30 grammes of weed, I had to run'

AN Antrim town man made off from the PSNI and then sent a Snapchat to a woman whilst police were in her presence and officers noticed the defendant said: 'I had 30 grammes of weed, I had to run".

Details emerged at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena, regarding Michael Parnham (25), of Rathmore Gardens.

He admitted possessing cannabis on September 9 last year.

A prosecutor, Court News NI can report, said police found 15 cannabis wraps weighing 25 grammes during a search at an address.

Whilst police were speaking with Parnham he "ran away".

The prosecutor said police were then speaking to a woman who received a Snapchat from Parnham and police took a picture of the message.

When arrested and interviewed the defendant admitted the cannabis was his for "personal use".

A defence solicitor said the defendant believed the drugs were worth around £250.

The lawyer said Parnham had a "cannabis problem since his teenage years".

The defendant was put on Probation for a year with a condition that he participates in any programme regarding drug addiction.
