Suspended jail sentence for young mum who went on shoplifting spree

A YOUNG mum who went on a shoplifting spree at The Junction in Antrim town has been given a three months jail sentence, suspended for a year.

Christine Fechete (19), with an address listed as Cromwell Road in Belfast, had the assistance of an interpreter when she appeared at Antrim Magistrates Court, sitting in Ballymena (main picture).

The defendant admitted stealing meat, cosmetics and clothing from Lidl, B&M Bargains, Poundland and Next worth a total of  over £300 on August 12 this year.

The court heard the defendant had been detained by staff outside B&M.
