Tattooist is accused of sexual assault

A TATTOOIST with a Bangor address is accused of sexually assaulting a female.

Shane Sunday (48), of Croft Street, is charged in relation to April 6 this year.

The allegation is that he 'intentionally touched (the female) the circumstances being that the touching was sexual, that she did not consent to the touching and you did not reasonably believe that she so consented'.

The case was mentioned at Newtownards Magistrates' Court where a police officer believed she could connect the accused to the charge.

The defendant was not present at court nor was he on a video link.

Applying for legal aid, a defence lawyer told the court the defendant is a self-employed tattooist "and obviously with the Covid pandemic he has had a fairly significant impact to his earnings".

Fuller details were not outlined to the court and the case was adjourned to May 31.
