Three men fined after attending Ballymena house 'party' in breach of Covid rules

THREE men who attended a "party" at a property in Ballymena in breach of Covid regulations have each been fined.

They are Christopher Mouland (32), of Devenagh Court; Terence Dunlop (32), of Devenagh Way; and Sean Paul McManus (36), of High Street, Ballymena.

A prosecutor told Ballymena Magistrates Court at 2.05am on June 23 this year police attended a property at Devenagh Court where Mouland was present along with others and they were issued with 'Covid Notices'.

At 10.05pm on the same date police returned to the same address after a report of "ongoing issues" and after "some resistance" entry was gained.

Mouland and others were present and they were "drinking alcohol and socialising".

Mouland's solicitor said the defendant had a "long-standing drug addiction" and was "in a spiral" at the time.

He said the rule at the time was that six people from two households could gather "so the problem here was not the numbers but that the households were different and mixed".

He said Mouland would have been "ignorant" of the regulations.

Mouland pleaded guilty to two offences and was fined £600 whilst Dunlop and McManus were each fined £300 for one offence.
