Three year sentence for man with Ballymena address who was charged with possessing cocaine with intent to supply

A 67-year-old man with a Ballymena address who pleaded guilty has been given a three year sentence after being charged with possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply.

Vincent Birt, with an address listed as Antrim Road in Ballymena, committed the offences on November 10 last year.

He had also been charged with obstructing police; possessing 'criminal property' - £11,600 - and driving dangerously at Moorfields Road and Lisnahilt Road near Ballymena .

At Antrim Crown Court he was given a total sentence of three years.

One year and six months are to be spent in custody and the other half on release licence.

He was also banned from driving for a year.
