Uninsured motorist left note with her name and address after supermarket car park collision in Crumlin

AN UNINSURED motorist whose BMW struck another vehicle in the Tesco car park in Crumlin and who then scribbled her name and address on a note before leaving the scene has been given six penalty points and fined £350.

Keri Rooney (34), The Bur, Crumlin, was dealt with at Ballymena Magistrates Court (main picture) for offences including absence of insurance and failing to stop, remain and report an accident in June, 2019.

A defence lawyer said it was a "low impact" collision.

He said the defendant had only purchased the car and the collision happened because she was not used to driving it.

The lawyer said the defendant intended to insure it that day.

He said the defendant was in a "real panic" and she left a note with her name and address after being taken home by other people she knew.

The lawyer said the failing to stop, remain and report charges were "very technical".
