Woman had knife as offensive weapon

A WOMAN has admitted possessing a knife as an offensive weapon.

Zyndzie Akimodo (34), of Bloomfield Avenue, Bangor, committed the offence on July 21 last year.

At Newtownards Magistrates Court two charges of making threats to kill two people - including a police officer - were dismissed.

District Judge Mark Hamill said the case was a "classic example of the police being the meat in a domestic sandwich".

He adjourned the case to March 21 for a pre-sentence report.

The judge told the defendant: "Do not play any sort of racism card here. Do not treat the police like this again.  I'm incensed at the way the police have been treated here".

A defence lawyer said there was a "mental health" issue.
