Woman's vehicle ended up on roof after taxi driver performed 'U-turn' in Bangor to respond to a call

A TAXI driver responding to a call performed a u-turn at Balloo Road in Bangor and caused a collision in which a woman's vehicle ended up on its roof.

Ralph Jay Grafil (48), of Ardvanagh Road, Conlig, admitted driving carelessly on September 4 last year.

A prosecutor said the defendant was attempting a u-turn to "go to a taxi job".

A defence lawyer said the defendant had "every sympathy" for the other driver.

At Newtownards Magistrates Court, District Judge Mark Hamill said it was a "pretty severe accident" and handed down four penalty points and a £400 fine.
